CASE STUDY
Vandex Repairs
Westminster Abbey, Library Deans Yard, London
Westminster Abbey is one of London’s most iconic Landmarks. The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place of 17 monarchs.
The library and muniment room houses an extensive and historical collection of books, manuscripts, archival material, photographs and more.
The Problem
CavityTech Systems Ltd were asked to put together a specification to repair the manhole catch pit that was suffering from leaks. From our inspection we were able to provide the client with a written report relating to issues found.
Our specification allowed to clean out the catch pit as far as possible. We then raked out and repaired any leaks and suspected leaks with Vandex Rapid 2 waterproof plugging compound. We then carefully applied Vandex Rapid M waterproof repair mortar to the catch pit in one coat to 10mm thick. Site was then cleared and left tidy.
Conclusion
We were able to provide a design and installation to solve the reported problems, whilst causing the minimum disruption to the Abbey and the many tourists present.
